Hundreds of years ago, flying lanters, known as Khoom Fay were launched alongside fireworks during festivals to offer the people a feeling of tranquility and to appease their worries. It was a way for them to send their dreams or wishes to heaven.
These Chinese Flying Lanterns are made from biodegradeable materials and the frame is made from bamboo - a wood that is very quickly replenished. It was believed that wishes, when written on the lantern, would rise up to the heavens and come true.
If you want to write a wish on your lantern, carefully use a soft tipped marker pen to ensure you do not damage it..
